Our Key Focus
Eastside Memorial High School, located in east Austin, is the main community service focus of the Texas Blazers.  Every semester, each Blazer commits to providing at least 12 hours of service in the form of tutoring, school beautification, special events, mentoring, and college counseling.

Up to the Challenge
Many students at Eastside are in need of strong, positive role models and the Blazers step up to the plate.  By working one-on-one with high-risk students, we provide educational and social support in and out of the classroom.

Achieving Results
In past semesters, the Blazers have volunteered over 550 hours at Eastside.  Our efforts can be observed in the many students who have an increased interest in education and community awareness.

Texas Blazers Endowed Scholarship
The Texas Blazers recently made the founding donation to the Texas Blazers Endowed Scholarship, to be administered by The University of Texas at Austin for the benefit of Eastside Memorial High School graduates.

We are one of a select few student organizations (and the youngest) to sponsor an endowed scholarship, but we need your support to realize this dream!  Please read more about this scholarship to the right, and learn how you can help.

Frisbee Fling
Each spring, the Texas Blazers host Frisbee Fling, a Frisbee Golf tournament on the 40 Acres, to raise money for Eastside High School scholarships.  Participate by signing-up a team and help deserving students peruse higher education.

Our work at Eastside is not yet done.
We strive to find ways to enhance the high school experience of all Eastside students.

Some of our projects include:
  • Professional Luncheon
  • ACT and College Preparation Workshops
  • Ice Hockey Games with Mentees
  • Student Panels
  • Courtyard Beautification

About Texas Blazers Endowed Scholarship
On Monday, November 6th, 2006 the Texas Blazers officially established the Texas Blazers Endowment Fund by making an initial contribution.

The $25,000 pledge will provide a $1,000 scholarship each year to a student from Eastside High School in East Austin.  We hope that this fund will make the University of Texas a more realistic possibility for students from this community.

The Blazers would like to thank everyone who has made the contribution possible through hard work and generous gifts. As the fund grows in value, so do the payouts for scholarships so your support is greatly appreciated. Please read more about how you can help us reach our $25,000 goal.

How You Can Help
Your tax-deductible donation to the Texas Blazers Endowed Scholarship Fund will help Eastside students attend the University of Texas.  All donations are processed directly by The University of Texas.
